The beginnings of my Circumnavigated Cardigan, or the "Cast on and work 1,657 sts" section.

It's the front, back and another front equivalent for the pockets that are worked at the same time all crammed on there. It's a neat trick but does not do much for visual progress.

Tops of the pockets joined! I know, it doesn't look much different, but believe me it feels so much quicker to work now. The next part will be to pick up the provisional cast on and work down for the ribbing, joining the pocket bottoms. It should then start to bare more resemblance to a sweater than a tangled strip of seaweed.
I plan to get some good travel knitting time in starting tomorrow. Where are we going? Vegas baby! Mr. Pieknits is going on business and so I hopped on that opportunity. Now to go pack the knitting bag- what? Isn't that what you pack first?

Ah, yes, I always pack the knitting first! 'Course, I always WAY overestimate how much knitting I can possibly get done, but that way there are lots of options.
Congrats on the cardie progress . . . I'm working on the Samus cardie from knitty right now, and it feels like it's taking forEVAH!
And people called me crazy for the 1201 sts on the pinwheel blanket. Hehe
It's looking good! :)
I love that color is red your favorite? Yep I always pack my knitting - what am I saying it's always packed! Just purchased my tickets for a flight from Pittsburgh to Phoenix in Feb so I'm jazzed. You must be soooo excited.
ooh the color you have picked is beautiful.
take enough knitting for the plane. you won't be knitting once you get to LV! have lots of fun! try to hit some yarn shops while you are there :)
Oh my word that's a lot of sts!
Ha ha - pack those knits and projects first. That's the right way to do it. And then look through the wardrobe for hand knits to wear, then finally look for the clothes that will compliment the hand knit items. (Then toiletries, but I'm guessing that you would've figured that out.)
Although it doesn't look like much, I think your making wonderful progress on that cardi. I don't evny you that knitting, though. (Until its done, and then I'll envy away.)
Have a great trip!
Yes definitely. If I don't have knitting projects, I am in trouble. Anything else I can buy when I get there.
What a great idea for cardigan construction - is this your pattern?
that is a lot of stitches, but when you're done, you're done! I like that part....
yay vegas! one of my favorite places!!!!
Ok, so I exaggerated a little - but it still seems like a lot! ;)
Knitting bag - but of course that's the first thing I pack! ^^ I love the colour, can't wait to see more of this pattern. In fact, it's a very clever way to knit a cardigan, never heard of it before.
calling from vegas- you suck! :p
I am looking forward to seeing the finished sweater. The examples on the website were way too conservative (for me) but I am intrigued by the description of the pattern as well as your plans for it. Good luck!
