The room
Ok, I know you're all probably tired of hearing about it, but I finally got some photos of the new craft room. My lack of photographic skill is rather obvious with these, I need more practice with lighting, but anyway- onto the pics!

Walking into the room shot. Now the walls came out more blue than they truly are, it's more a greenish-blue. This is the actual color.

The armoire with the table fully extended. You can also fold it out just half way, it's pretty cool. There's even a built in electrical plug for the sewing machine. (Thanks Mr. Pieknits!)

With everything all organized now it looks like I don't have that much, ha! I've seen some awesome craft rooms; mine looks so bare in comparison. Lots of space to grow though is what I figure. I also have lots more decorating ideas and things to go up on the walls.

My own little "window box" I created for the room. It came out just like I was hoping! I was originally planning on making a real planter box with some wheatgrass but then found these non-expiring plastic types, much more manageable. I have a bit of a black thumb with house plants.

The built in shelves in the closet now houses my yarn stash. The plastic bin on the bottom holds the overflow. Again, not nearly as impressive as some others, but I try to only have yarn that I have specific projects for.

And can't forget Aejaz, he likes the room too - a little too much while we were painting. I was sure we were going to have a half blue dog as he kept trying to lean against the walls. He's posed here in front of the new drawing table/ ball winding station. I plan to put up an inspiration board here too.
And if you're not completly sick of photos yet, there's a few more on my flickr set.

Awesome! The first thing I thought was.. "my god.. look at how CLEAN it is!" because my craft room/office is absolutely trashed. I love the wall color.. very calming.

I almost painted our bedroom that colour! Instead I gave in to the DH and it is barn door red. I LOVE your armoire, it looks so nice and organized.

Awesome!! The bright color is perfect!

The room is absolutely gorgeous! So light, airy and fresh, as a white (or blue ^^) card ready to be filled with ideas and projects! I'm so jealous of your armoire, I must get something like this when redecorating our bedroom, it's a great idea to be able to open it up, do some work and then close the doors. The only thing I would choose differently would be the floor - with lots of sewing and knitting the carpet catches a lot of dust and fabrics scraps and threads (I know what I'm saying, I'm working in a room with a carpet all the time...), you'll be vacuuming constantly, girl... *^v^* Beautiful studio!

Beautiful! I think I am going to steal your idea for the grass picture frame. My craft room is blue and I think the grass picture frame would look great there.

I love that armoire - did you build the table part yourselves? It's a great idea for sewing machine storage! The room as a whole looks really great, I'm sure you'll expand into the space quickly enough (or at least I would).

Wow thanks everyone! I've had several inquiries as to where the armoire is from, so I thought I'd post the link to it here as well. It's from Walmart believe it or not.

Fabulous craft room. I'm in love with the color of your walls.

I'm loving' the grass. I bought some for Easter baskets for this year - I used to grow some rye grass, a la Martha Stewart, but then the cats ate it and threw up.
I hope they don't try to eat the plastic grass.
Your room is LOVELY.

I'm still waiting for you to:
1.) Publish a book; and
2.) To be at a friend's house where they have cable and see you as one of the designers on Trading Spaces. But that might cut into your knitting time ...
Speaking of home remodelling shows, my handyperson sister met Andrew Dan Jumbo's hand and they talked about woodworking projects. She could infer from the tone of this voice that he was really saying, "Please be the mother of my children." But I know she was lying, because I am his One True Love.
If you want plants that are hard to kill, aloe and spider plants are pretty groovy like that. Water will freeze in my kitchen (gotta love upstate NY, and yes, we have several feet of snow left over from the storms) and I still haven't killed my aloe plant. My neighbor left hers in teh garage for several months without doing anything to it, and the plant is gorgeous. It's almost as if it was trying to prove something.
