About Me
‘ello. Let me just start with saying I write wretched bios. I do like reading them however, so I will attempt something and hope the Grammar Avengers do not find me.
The BioData
We’ll start with the obvious, my name’s Jennifer Tallapaneni and I live in Dallas, Texas with the hubby, Mr. PieKnits and our endlessly amusing puppy, Aejaz. I consider myself a displaced northerner, having moved here a few years ago from my hometown in Iowa. The weather here I do greatly appreciate but while trying to avoid being assimilated into using the phrase “y’all”. The day job is multimedia/web development that lends itself well to playing with more techie things related to knitting/crafting at night.
The making stuff part
I have not been knitting for any great length of time but have been making funky things long before I’d learned the term “crafting”. I went to school for Commercial Art/Graphic Design and did some Fine Art work as well. I feel with knitting it just ‘clicked’, to add to the overuse of that phrase. My combined love of art/design and mathematics/programming quickly led to me discovering their happy marriage in knitting design. I love the combination of creativity and technical details. I’m a dual-minded kind of gal.
For more random info – I had a little question/answer session for a blogiversary here and here.

I really like your hats! No Etsy shop?
I do have an Etsy shop for my patterns, pieknits.etsy.com. However I just sell patterns, no finished items- thanks!
Hey Jennifer. I’m knitting a Topi cadet hat for Christmas for my son (knitty.com pattern by you) and have a question regarding the slipped stitch rib – do you slip the stitch knit wise or purl wise? Love the pattern btw. Thanks.
You slip the stitch purl wise. I always assume unless stated otherwise, slipped stitches are worked purl wise. Thanks!
wanted to let you know that Tastebook has some of you pics and recipes on its site with your name but no link here is one of them. http://www.tastebook.com/recipes/766496-Nutella-Swirl-Cupcakes

Love the mouse pad pattern. Having a church bazaar to pay for a new organ. Would like your permission to make about a dozen to sell at this bazaar.
Thanks,
Hi! I purchased your Devra pattern. I am excited to get started. I am making three for my nieces. Do you have any suggestions on how to size it down for a child or toddler?
Thanks!
Jennifer thank you so much for posting the Double Knit Sampler Coin Purse. I have been looking for directions on how to double knit with one strand of yarn ever since I found a dk potholder my brother-in-laws deceased Aunt Lila made. The instructions were amazingly easy to understand and follow, however, I am totally doing something wrong and can’t figure out what it is. I have made several of these coin purses to practice the technique and they look awesome until I turn them inside out. The sides where the front and back join have an extra long stitch or something else going on there. I would appreciate any assistance you might be able to offer. Thank you.
