About Me
'ello. Let me just start with saying I write wretched bios. I do like reading them however, so I will attempt something and hope the Grammar Avengers do not find me.
The BioData
We'll start with the obvious, my name's Jennifer Tallapaneni and I live in Dallas, Texas with the hubby, Mr. PieKnits and our endlessly amusing puppy, Aejaz. I consider myself a displaced northerner, having moved here a few years ago from my hometown in Iowa. The weather here I do greatly appreciate but while trying to avoid being assimilated into using the phrase "y'all". The day job is multimedia/web development that lends itself well to playing with more techie things related to knitting/crafting at night.
The making stuff part
I have not been knitting for any great length of time but have been making funky things long before I'd learned the term "crafting". I went to school for Commercial Art/Graphic Design and did some Fine Art work as well. I feel with knitting it just 'clicked', to add to the overuse of that phrase. My combined love of art/design and mathematics/programming quickly led to me discovering their happy marriage in knitting design. I love the combination of creativity and technical details. I'm a dual-minded kind of gal.
For more random info - I had a little question/answer session for a blogiversary here and here.

hi, i was wondering, could you make a hat like the one worn by rachel on the amazing race season 12. its a redish purple, but i can't find the design of it anywhere, its more slouchy, and then it has strings coming down on each side. i was just wondering, because i love it. THANK YOU :D
Dear Mrs Pieknit,
I have to thank you and the Mr effusively for the sambar recipe. It's a godsend and saves me from being condemned to a lifetime of Gits pseudo-sambar.
I've been seeing your patterns around for a while, but I think this is the first time I came across your blog. I'm envious-- forgive me, but the 2 of u young'uns are so cute. My ex was an 'akhrot Pathan'-- ask Mr if he can translate that-- that's why he's my ex.... not cute
I know, I'm being very nit-picky (not to say knit-picky hahahaha) but 'topi', like many words used in Telugu, is an Urdu word that specifically refers to the type of skullcap worn by Muslim men for prayer, and outside prayer. Other kinds of hats, like the brimmed caps you've knitted, are not idiomatically called 'topi'. A baseball-type cap with the rounded forward brim, in my experience, is called 'cap' in Pakistan and 'monkey cap' in Bangladesh and parts of India.
Sorry to be so obsessive. In any case your patterns are great. I like the new cabled 'TOPI';^}. I already bought the offkilter pattern on Ravelry but haven't knitted it yet.
Well, that's all. I'm off to get some drumsticks and okra. Thanks again!
